Stephen F. Korhn was born and raised in Defiance. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. degree in finance and graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1972 where he was a member of the Law Review. He joined Clemens, Korhn, Liming, & Warncke, Ltd. (then Shaw, Clemens & Williams) in 1972 and became a partner in 1975. Within ten years, his practice evolved from primarily family law, real estate law, municipal law, and insurance defense law to exclusively insurance defense law for 30 years, covering fifteen counties. His present practice areas include real estate, estate planning and administration.
Mr. Korhn has had an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell for in excess of 25 years. He has been first chair defense counsel in jury trials in 11 counties. His defense case experience includes wrongful death cases, product liability claims, will contests, and many cases involving catastrophic injury claims. Mr. Korhn is Chairman of the City of Defiance Civil Service Commission and he has been a member of the City Civil Service Commission for in excess of 26 years. He has been a member of both the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys and the United States Supreme Court Historical Association for over 45 years. He has served as a past Trustee/Director of the Defiance Area YMCA, the Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce, the Defiance Library Board, and Northwest State University. He was Defiance City Law Director for three years. He was recently recognized by the Ohio Bar Association for 50 years of service to the community and legal profession.
